The
president of the event’s organizing committee, Reinaldo Mustelier
Bequer, highlighted the large participation of delegates in the
meeting and its importance to show the results obtained by Cuban
neurologists.
He added that participants were able to learn about Cuba’s latest
advances in the study of neurological diseases, interaction with
patients and the search of methods to solve problems of the
specialty.
Mustelier, who is also the head of the National Group of Neurology,
noted that the event has to set the guidelines for the development
of these services in the country and it should also serve as an
opportunity to hold similar meetings on the topic.
Likewise, Jesus Perez Nellar, vice president of the event,
highlighted the favorable moment for neurology in the island, its
development since the triumph of the Revolution and the excellent
training of over 200 specialists who are currently working
nationwide.
Perez Nellar stressed that Cuba has reached world levels in areas
such as the treatment of the Parkinson disease and neuro-rehabilitation.
More than 160 delegates participated in the National Congress on
Neurology whose program included almost 50 lectures and seven
symposiums.
