At the UN Human Rights Council, while
exercising his right to replication in the
debate "Situations requiring the attention of the Council", Cuban
delegate Resfel Pino stressed that neither the United States not the
European Union (EU) have moral authority to question others.
"Throughout this debate, we have heard
some western countries repeat their politicized and endless lists of
nations where human rights are supposedly violated”, pointed out
Pino, the Granma newspaper reports on Wednesday.
The Cuban diplomat spoke about the
culpability of the United States, the Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium,
the Czech Republic and Spain in horrifying chapters with regard to
human rights. In the case of Germany, he said that it has been
publicly described as an accomplice in the practice of secret
detentions.
The recently adopted resolution of the
European Parliament against Cuba was condemned by the Mexican
chapter of the Network in Defense of Humanity, which considers such
statements as a distortion with political purposes, the Prensa
Latina news agency reports.
A similar condemnation was expressed
by solidarity-with-Cuba organizations in Angola, which declared
their firm support of the island’s democratic and humanistic
process, full of solidarity, and by the Antonio Maceo Brigade, made
up by Cuban emigrants in the United States and supporters of the
Caribbean country.
A statement against this new campaign
of the EU was made by the Cuban Union of Writers and Artists and the
Hermanos Saiz Brigade -published on Wednesday by Granma newspaper-,
which calls intellectuals and artists from around the world to halt
this new aggression.
