U.S. Lawyer calls for
release of the Cuban Five
HAVANA, Cuba,
Mar 17 (acn) Dean Hubbard, Jr. National Co-Chair of the US National
Lawyers
Guild (NLG) Labor and Employment Committee, called in this capital
to increase the struggle
for the freedom of the Cuban Five, imprisoned in that country for
more 11 years.
|
|
Hubbard addressed the opening of the XII Central
American and Caribbean Congress on Labor Law and Social Security,
which called for continuing the battle to free Antonio Guerrero,
Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino and Rene
Gonzalez.
The U.S. labor lawyers and the world owe a debt to Cuba: to support
the release of the Cuban Five, as they are known internationally,
said the expert at the opening ceremony of the event, at the Aula
Magna of the University of Havana.
At this time, he stressed, Latin America and the Caribbean have new
models of hope like the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our
America (ALBA) to defend our achievements and confront imperialism.
NLG is a guild of American lawyers who supports the liberation of
the Cuban antiterrorists sentenced to excessive punishment for
monitoring the perpetrators of subversive plans against the
Caribbean nation.
