Havana’s Youth
Communist League Holds its Balance Assembly
HAVANA, Cuba, Mar
14 (acn) Jose Ramon Machado Ventura and Esteban Lazo Hernandez,
members of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Cuba, presided
over the organization’s assembly in the capital, prior to the Youth
Communist League (UJC by its Spanish acronym) 9th Congress.

During the
last provincial meetings that preceded the Congress which will be
held in April, many delegates, of the 299 present, self-critically
stressed the UJC neuralgic issues, such as formalism, lack of
fighting spirit and the need to play a real leading role.
Lt. Danny Rivera Marrero, from the Revolutionary Army Forces,
highlighted the danger that implies a lack of commitment and
ingenuity in the political and ideological work, a task he described
as complex and profound.
Esteban Lazo agreed with the approach, but added that to ensure the
generational legacy of the Revolution not only involves complex
issues, but exemplary actitudes.
In turn, Machado Ventura urged the young militants to stage a
turnaround able to rectify deficiencies in the functioning of the
organization, with the help and support of the Communist party.
The First Vice-President of the Councils of State and Ministers
called upon the leaders of the UJC to update information for set
lies apart from truths and to be able to educate, provide answers to
questions or concerns, and to convey confidence in their respective
environments.
He noted that the actions of that organization will determine the
future of the country, and reiterated the confidence that current
generations will be able to confront and defeat the increase in
hostilities against the Revolution.
During the meeting Provincial Bureau of the UJC of Havana was
elected, and Ana Judith Area Sarmiento was ratified as its first
secretary.
