Several personalities and residents of this city
located in the mountain range spanning between Argentina and Chile,
have signed postcards, which will be sent to US President Barack
Obama, expressing their support of the Cuban Five.
In an online dialogue with the Juventud Rebelde newspaper, Pablo
Fernandez, one of the activists in the movement, said visiting the
Argentinean city, Serbian musician and filmmaker Emir Kusturica also
signed a postcard in favor of the Cuban Five.
Neuquen is the home place of three young Argentinean men who
recently climbed the Aconcagua, the highest mountain of the American
continent (6,962 meters), carrying a white flag with a slogan
reading: Obama, release the Cuban Five now.
Meanwhile in New Delhi, India, Cuba’s ambassador, Miguel A. Ramírez,
presented the case to students of the Foreign Trade Institute of
that country, Prensa Latina reported.
Ramirez made emphasis on the fact that Washington
maintains major terrorists of the western hemisphere free, while
keeping in jail the Cuban Five, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino,
Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez since more
than 11 years ago, for trying to prevent criminal actions against
the Cuban people and government leaders.
