The diplomat highlighted the outstanding work of
Tomiyama at the heart of a group of Japanese jurists committed to
the defense of these patriots, her translation of legal documents,
and her participation in the 5th Meeting of Solidarity with The
Five, held in Cuba.
He acknowledged the identification and support of the activist with
the struggle against the illegal and criminal economic, commercial
and financial blockade imposed by Washington on the Caribbean
island.
He pointed out that this siege has remained intact in all of its
components, including its extraterritorial nature.
Fernandez de Cossio made reference to the communique unanimously
adopted during the recently concluded Summit of Latin American and
Caribbean States, which categorically condemned the criminal
blockade, the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s web site reports.
In her words of appreciation, the awarded activist reaffirmed her
identification with and commitment to the struggles of the Cuban
people in defense of its independence and sovereignty.
Attending the solemn ceremony held at the Cuban embassy in Japan
were members of various social organizations and trade unions from
the Asian nation.
