The Social Liberal Party (SLP) of Tunisia demanded of
Washington the lifting of the
blockade against Cuba, in a document published by its official
organ, "L´horizon", the Prensa Latina news agency reports.
The SLP analyzed the attitude of successive US administrations
against Cuba, the main legal violations established by the
Helm-Burton Law and the economic, social and humanitarian
consequences of that policy of harassment for the Caribbean nation.
The SLP is one of the six political parties of Tunisian opposition,
with parliamentary
representation since October 2009, when it obtained eight of the 53
seats destined to opposition in the general elections.
On the other hand, in Baku, the Azerbaijani Committee in Defense of
the Rights of The Five issued a declaration protesting against the
unjust imprisonment of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio
Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez.
The organization, founded on January 24 following an initiative of
the Popular Socialist Party of Azerbaijan, considers that keeping
these men in jail is a violation of the norms of international law,
and called the United States to re-examine the cause of the Five as
soon as possible.
