The document was penned by Cuban Parliament President
Ricardo Alarcon and his Cape Verdean counterpart Aristides Raimundo
Lima who arrived in the island on Thursday. The protocol establishes
the commitment to target cooperation programs and projects at all
legislative and parliamentarian activities.
It also looks to foster understanding among deputies and officials
from both countries and the planning of cooperation and exchange
actions on technical areas and parliamentary services.
The protocol will come into effect 30 days after the signing day,
February 12, and it will be effective for a period of four years
after which it can be further extended. Furthermore, the document
lays the foundations to increase exchange between mutual friendship
parliamentary groups.
After the signing ceremony, Raimundo Lima thanked Alarcon for the
invitation to visit the island and for providing an opportunity to
establish a juridical framework that favors relations between the
two countries and parliaments.
Alarcon said he was satisfied with the visit of the Cape Verdean
official and for the
joint efforts which respond to the excellent bonds between the two
nations.
