The newspaper Cambio, from that Andean nation,
reported that the proclamation of this achievement will be made in
April 4, the Prensa Latina news agency reports.
So far, doctors from the archipelago that are incorporated to the
Operation Miracle project have performed over 15,000 eye surgeries
in Guayaramerin, on Bolivian and Brazilian patients.
On April 4 "the objective of the National Government and the Cuban
Brigade will reach a satisfactory conclusion", affirmed Susel
Gutierrez, head of the aforementioned project in that locality.
Since 2006, Cuban ophthalmology specialists have carried out in all
of Bolivia a total of 486,585 surgeries, which have also benefited
Argentineans, Brazilians, Peruvians and Paraguayans.
Operation Miracle is a Cuban-Venezuelan program of international
cooperation for free eye treatment, and has the objective of
restoring or improving the sight of patients of scant economic
resources.
