Cuba and Russia Analyze Bilateral Cooperation
HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 25 (acn) The Vice-president of the Cuban Council of Ministers, Ricardo
Cabrisas, and Igor Ivanovich Sechin, vice-chief of the Russian government, analyzed in Moscow
the most important aspects of bilateral relations.

Standing out during the meeting were the fulfilment of the agreements of the 9th session of the committee held in January, 2009, particularly in the spheres of energy, aviation, oil prospecting, transportation, and agricultural and construction machinery the Prensa Latina news agency reports.


The analysis also included aspects linked to the fields of Tourism and Education.
The co-presidents of the Russia-Cuba Intergovernmental Joint Committee presented their reports, underlined the achievements made, offered final considerations of the session and agreed to continue their talks at experts’ level beginning Tuesday.


The two parties highlighted the upcoming 19th International Book Fair in Havana and the official visit of Russian Foreign Minister Serguei Lavrov to Cuba, coinciding with that event, in which his country will be the Guest of Honor.


They also tackled Russia’s participation in the International Tourism Fair in the
archipelago and aspects linked to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.


Cabrisas and Ivanovich Sechin confirmed the excellent state of political bonds and made reference to the visit to Russia of Cuban President Raul Castro in January, 2009, during which 34 accords were signed in a wide gamut of spheres, and the visit of the Russian head of state, Dmitri Medvedev, to Cuba in November, 2008.
Representing Russia in the meeting were top level officials from the ministries of Energy, Foreign Affairs, Education, Science, Communications, Economic Development, Industry and Commerce, Agriculture, Transportation and Tourism.
Also participating were leaders from federal agencies, like that of Fisheries, and
directors of important enterprises.
