The message was posted on the Cubadebate website ( www.cubadebate.cu ). It reads: “In this tragic and painful moment the Haitians are going through, we, five Cubans who are imprisoned in the United States, want to express our solidarity.”

“We are sure that the determination of the Haitian people and the international help will make it possible for the country to recover. In that effort, you can always count on the solidarity of the Cuban people,” the Cuban Five wrote in their note.

Ramon Labañino, Rene Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez and Antonio Guerrero finished the message with “a strong and fraternal hug” to the Haitian people.
