Cuba
and Iran Strengthen Economic Bonds
HAVANA,
Cuba, Nov 7 (acn) Cuba and Iran penned seven memoranda for
export-import of products, within the framework of the 14th Session
of the Intergovernmental Commission for
Economic and Scientific-Technological Collaboration.

The talks were presided over by Jorge Luis Sierra
Cruz, Cuba’s Transport Minister and Alí Akbar Mehrabian, Iran’s
Industry and Mining Minister.
During the exchange, entrepreneurs from the Asian country penned
agreements with Cuban Suchel (a company that produces and
commercializes perfumes and beauty and cleansing products), with
the Import-Export Corporation, the Cuban Central Bank and other
companies related to train transportation.
Sierra underscored the importance of this Commission because it
strengthens the integration of the two economies, improves the
commercial balance and boosts joint and integrating with the
Caribbean projects, especially with the members of the
Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA).
Sources within the Foreign Trade and Investment Ministry assured
that the economic and commercial relations with Iran point to an
increase of the bilateral exchanges and collaboration.
Cuba has a credit line with enterprises of that nation which
favors the purchasing of supplies for priority sectors, like the
train transportation, hydraulic resources, electricity and the
sugar industry.
The Iranian minister highlighted that, since the beginning of
the Islamic Revolution, Cuba has been their friend and has
boosted bilateral relations.
Also attending the signing of the agreements were Rodrigo
Malmierca, Cuba’s Foreign Trade and Investment Minister and
Mustafá Alasei, Iranian Ambassador to Cuba.
