During the official meeting, the
distinguished visitor expressed her satisfaction with her stay
in Cuba and made reference to her program of activities in the
Caribbean country at the invitation of her Cuban counterpart
Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, with whom she met on Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, Cabrisas thanked the
Guyanese top diplomat for her visit and highlighted the
importance of her meetings in Havana with Cuban authorities, in
keeping with the excellent friendship and cooperation relations
that exist between the two nations.
Cuba and Guyana established
diplomatic relations in December 1972 and bilateral ties have
strengthened over the last years, particularly in the fields of
education and health.
Guyana has traditionally sided
with Cuba in its struggle against Washington’s financial,
commercial and economic blockade, a position ratified on
Thursday by Rodrigues-Birkett.
According to the program of her
official visit, the Guyanese Foreign Minister and her
accompanying delegation will stay in Cuba until Saturday,
October 24th.
