While presenting the product, the first secretary for Culture of
the Cuban embassy in Russia, Martha Carreras, affirmed that her
country promotes not only nature tourism but also a closer look
at the island’s cultural and historical richness.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry’s web site reports that, during the
presentation, Carreras announced the creation of a new circuit,
which includes visits to historical places, like the city of
Baracoa, the first villa founded by the Spaniards on the island,
or eastern Santiago de Cuba province, known as the cradle of the
Revolution.
The representative of Habaguanex company, Katia Pradera, one of
Sol y Son’s partners in the project, pointed out that 17 hotels
participate in this new offer, most of which are small palaces
or mansions that belonged to the nobility of the 17th and 18th
centuries, which will be joined, in May 2010, by the new hotel
called Marqués de San Felipe Palace.
Cuba is presenting a variety of specialized workshops at the
International Tourism Fair in Russia, as well as seminars on
music, dance, and visual arts, and performances by traditional
music groups, said Ángela Montesino, from Paradiso Company.
