return to Tegucigalpa as an action to advance toward a
democratic solution to the crisis that nation is going
through.

emphasized.
In this regard, he highlighted the efforts made by Latin America
and the United Nations, the Group of Rio, the Caribbean
Community, and the Organization of American States to achieve
the restoration of democracy in Honduras.
Later, Colom made reference to the critical situation Guatemala
is facing and pointed out that it’s a structural problem caused
by 50 years of neglect in the fields of health, education and
economic opportunities.
He explained that the people became poor and mentioned the
existence of high indexes of extreme poverty and chronic
malnutrition.
