Speaking in the inauguration of the exhibit named
“Holguin, Victory of Ideas,” local government’s vice president
Daniel Tarrago said the pictures show aspects of Cuban life in
the present and noted that it is also dedicated to those who
fell during the heroic deeds of July 26, 1953.
The exhibit that will be open until July 30 in
the main hall of Holguin's Arts Center includes six large-format
pictures representing the achievements of the province in the
fields of education, health, economy, culture, nickel and
agriculture.
The photos also show the political progress of
the Cuban Revolution and the efforts of the people of the area
to recover from the damage of Hurricane Ike on September 2008,
in particular in the housing sector.Among the highlights of the
exposition is a series of pictures of Fidel Castro in his
several visits to the province starting on February 17, 1959,
when he addressed the people of Holguin for the first time
through his speech in the city delivered in July 26, 2006.
