Cubans mark, on Sunday, the 56th anniversary of
the 1953 attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes
barracks, two main strongholds of the army of the Batista
dictatorship that ruled the island before 1959. The action
sparked the liberation struggle that ended with the triumph of
the Cuban Revolution.
The actions led by Fidel Castro was the prologue
of the defeat of the pro-American Batista dictatorship, reads
the message sent by the Russian society, PL news reported.
The action paved the way for the Cuban people to
take power and for the country to advance on the path of
Socialism, the message adds.
