The Cuban delegation accompanied Rodrigues Pires
to place a wreath by the statue of African hero Amilcar Cabral,
the founding father of Cape Verde and Guinea Bissau, the Cuban
Ministry’s Web site reports on Tuesday.
Later, they attended the celebrations for the 35th anniversary
of Cape Verde’s independence held at the National Assembly,
which included a military parade.
Participating in the ceremony were Pedro Evelio Dorta, the Cuban
ambassador to Cape Verde and high ranking officials from
Senegal, the Canary Islands and Luxemburg and from the Economic
Community of West African States, as well as delegations invited
for the occasion.
