Dean Hubbard, member of this organization, declared
himself in favour of the immediate release of these antiterrorism
fighters in his speech at the Third Labor Lawyers International
Meeting in Cuba's Hotel Nacional.
In front of the 160 delegates attending the event, Hubbard, on
behalf of his organization, said they will not stop fighting till
achieving the total freedom for the Cuban Five and their return to
their homeland.
The American lawyer also rejected the criminal economic, commercial
and financial blockade maintained by the United States against Cuba
for almost five decades.
The opening day at the event was presided over by Joaquin Bernal,
member of the Cuban Communist Party Central Committee, along with
Ecuador's Labor and Employment deputy Minister Tito Palma Caicedo
and other leaders of Cuban lawyer and jurist organizations.
Labor lawyers from several nations will discuss this Tuesday the
effects of the economic world crisis on the labor field, as well as
union representation, and the protection of workers labor and social
rights in face of the crisis.
The event brings together jurist and union representatives from the
the US and Cuba as well as from Argentina, Colombia, Spain, England,
Mexico, Brazil and Costa Rica.
