Cuba lost Against Argentina in Pan-American Volleyball Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 18 (acn) Cuban women's volleyball team lost against Argentina in quarterfinals of the 13th Pan-American Cup, based in Mexico City.

According to the website of the tournament, which grants tickets for 2015Grand Prix, Argentine beat Cuba 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-20, and 25-19).

The leading scorer of the match was South American Leticia Boscacci, who accumulated 18 points, supported by Josefina Fernandez (17), Emilce Sosa (10) and Sol Piccolo (10).

Meanwhile, Daymara Lescay (16), Melissa Vargas (13) and Silian Matienzo (11) highlighted for the Caribbean squad.

In the other quarter-final game, Puerto Rico defeated Canada 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, and 30-28).

Colombia and Mexico also won yesterday versus Peru and Costa Rica, in that order, but in the beginning of the series for the seventh to eleventh spots, in the city of Pachuca.

Argentina and Puerto Rico will face today the Dominican Republic and USA respectively in the semifinals, based in Mexico City.

Canada and Cuba will fight on Thursday for the fifth and sixth seats, while the losers and winners of the semifinals will seek the gold and bronze medals, respectively.
