Communist Party Supports the Cause of the Cuban Five
HAVANA, Cuba, June 28 (acn) The German Communist Party (DKP)
ratified its support of the cause of the five Cuban
antiterrorists unjustly imprisoned in the U.S., during talks
included in the program of a Press Festival of
that organization, held in Dortmund.

According to Cuban diplomatic sources in Berlin, the
president of DKP, Bettina Jürgensen; the president of a
solidarity network with Cuba (Netzwerk), Harri Gruenberg;
and the president of the Germany-Cuba Friendship
Association, among others, offered updated information on
the case of these men.
The participants in the event recalled that Antonio
Guerrero, Ramon Labañino, Rene Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez
and Fernando Gonzalez, internationally known as the Cuban
Five, were unjustly imprisoned since 1998 for trying to
prevent terrorist actions against Cuba by right wing groups
based in Florida.
The festival was also attended by representatives of
different left
political forces in Europe and other regions, as well as the
Cuban
ambassador Raul Becerra, and a representative of the
department of
International Relations of the Central Committee of the
Cuban Communist
Party (PCC), Noel Carrillo, as guest of honor of the DKP.
Carrillo took part in a discussion panel in the stand “La
Casa Cuba” (the Cuban House), by the side of the president
of the International Commission of DKP, Heinz Stehr, and
Tobias Kriele of the AG Kuba-Solidarität of DKP, in which he
gave an overview on the current Cuban situation and on the
results of the Sixth Congress of the PCC.
Stehr highilighted the historic significance of the Cuban
Revolution and
ratified the solidarity of DKP with the Cuban people and its
revolutionary
process.

this Festival illustrates the constant work of DKP and other
organizations of solidarity with Cuba.
